First up, relevant news (updated April 2024)

• i'm still working on my book (a nonfiction history of fandom culture, coming at some point from Norton)
• i am freelance writing for publications including The Verge, Polygon, and Business Insider
• i'm considering applying to PhDs but people should really tell me that's a bad idea
• i have a substack - subscribe to tchotchke to get essays, stories, and random columns in your inbox on some fridays (but not others)

meanwhile

i 🗽 live in New York 🗽 and graduated in 2023 from NYU's Experimental Humanities MA program

i do ❄️ polar exploration research ❄️  for fun. see my blog for the latest updates

in 2023 i presented original research on fandom monetization on a roundtable on fandom polarization at AOIR in philadelphia

in 2022 i presented polar history research at the HSS conference in chicago, and created and presented a polar history project as an NYU digital humanities summer fellow.

in 2021 i presented academic work in fan studies at the ELO & FSN-NA conferences.

i am one of the lead organizers of the Terror Camp virtual polar conference, and the 2023 year's conference attracted nearly 1000 attendees from all over the world. 

i 🤡occasionally produce live comedy🤡 in such locales as the Edinburgh Fringe or Brooklyn

i'm  📚 represented by Maggie Cooper at Aevitas  📚

In the past

tbh all that stuff is on my linkedin but the most important things are that i did merch and marketing for Vulfpeck & was an A&R scout for Atlantic Records.

also sometimes i still put up new songs about tv shows/interviews with vulf on my youtube channel

 

maybe a skill section here? basically, i CAN do whatever. but i PREFER to do the stuff that i like. such as: writing, research, live events, consulting on audiences & fandoms, narrative design, etc.
